For carrying camera gear, our favourite sling bag is the Peak Design Everyday Sling 10L. It keeps your gear organized and is deceptively spacious for its size.
It is an extremely lightweight bag that is easy to carry, and though it is not huge, the depth and structure of the bag allow you to hold a surprising amount of items without much struggle. It is important to find a sling bag that features a lightweight design, preferably with a comfy strap that is easy to adjust and use. The coolest feature of the strap is the magnetic clasp that makes it very easy to put the bag on and take it off. As mentioned, I don’t normally carry a bag but I almost always take one with me when I travel. It’s not a bag for those of you who like to take lots of gear on location. The pockets on the front of the LowePro Slingshot 202 are designed in a way that when you have the bag in ‘sling’ mode (i.e. at the front of your body), smaller items can’t slip out. The LowePro Slingshot 202 uses a similar front strap system as some of the other sling bags mentioned here, whereby you open the front main flap in two separate stages – the first to access your camera with the lens attached, and the second to access other items of gear. For quick access to important items (IE snacks) the two external compartments make it easy for you. Slings offer quick, easy access to a smaller amount of gear and that’s how you should use them. However, lightly filling your sling bag with one or two lenses and your camera can be an immensely freeing experience and forces you to really think about your gear choices.
